How Functional Medicine Works at Vital Source
A clear process for clients who want to stop guessing, look deeper, and build a plan around the root causes of chronic symptoms.
Most people don’t need more random advice.
They need someone to slow down, look at the full picture, and help them understand why their body is struggling.
At Vital Source Functional Medicine, we work with kids, families, and adults dealing with autism-related health concerns, children’s health issues, gut problems, autoimmune disease, skin problems, hormone shifts, metabolic dysfunction, and inflammatory patterns.
Our process is built to help you move from confusion to clarity.
We start with your story. Then we look at your symptoms, history, labs, lifestyle, environment, and daily patterns. From there, we build a plan that actually makes sense for your body and your life.
This Is Not a Quick Symptom Visit
Functional medicine isn’t built around chasing symptoms one by one.
It’s built around asking better questions.
Why is the immune system activated?
Why is the gut inflamed?
Why are symptoms flaring?
Why is sleep broken?
Why is blood sugar unstable?
Why does the body feel stuck even when basic labs look “normal”?
We look at patterns across the whole body: digestion, nutrients, inflammation, blood sugar, hormones, sleep, stress physiology, immune function, nervous system regulation, and environment.
That kind of work takes more than a fifteen-minute conversation and a generic supplement list. It takes a process.
Our Process
We keep the process clear, practical, and organized.
You’ll know what the next step is, why we’re recommending it, and what we’re looking for.
-
We start with your full story: symptoms, health history, goals, previous labs, current routines, diet, digestion, sleep, stress, medications, supplements, and environment.
-
If testing makes sense, we recommend labs that help us better understand what’s happening under the surface.
-
We review findings, explain patterns, and build a plan around food, lifestyle, gut health, nutrients, sleep, stress, environment, and targeted supplementation when appropriate.
-
We track your response, adjust the plan, and keep working through the layers instead of guessing.
Step 1: Initial Consultation
This is where we get the full picture.
We review your symptoms, health history, goals, current routines, previous labs, diet, digestion, sleep, stress, medications, supplements, and environment so we can understand what’s actually going on.
After this visit, we’ll explain any recommended next steps before you make a decision.
Step 2: Targeted Testing, If Needed
We don’t test just to test. We test when it helps us make better decisions.
Depending on your case, testing may include blood work, stool testing, organic acids, SIBO testing, food sensitivity testing, hormone testing, nutrient markers, or environmental testing.
Not every client needs every test. The goal is to gather the right information so we can build a smarter plan.
Step 3: Case Review + Personalized Plan
This is where the pieces come together.
We review your history, symptoms, and labs, then build a plan around food, lifestyle, gut health, nutrients, sleep, stress, environment, and targeted supplementation when appropriate.
No random protocols. No guessing. No overwhelming 47-step plan. Just a clear strategy built around your body, your life, and your goals.
Step 4: Follow-Up + Adjustments
The first plan is the starting point, not the finish line.
Follow-up visits help us track what’s changing, what’s stuck, and what needs to be adjusted. This matters because complex cases rarely move in a straight line.
We follow your response and adjust the plan instead of throwing everything at the wall.
Care Options After Your Initial Consultation
After your Initial Consultation, we’ll recommend the care path that makes the most sense for your case.
Some clients continue visit by visit. Others choose a structured care option that includes a case review, follow-up visits, and additional support.
There’s no pressure to choose a care option before we understand your case.
We’ll walk you through the options clearly, explain what we recommend, and help you decide what level of support fits best.
Pay-Per-Visit Care
For clients who have less complex issues, want flexibility, and/or prefer to schedule visits as needed.
Root Cause Care
For clients who want a more structured path with case review, follow-up visits, and a clear plan.
Comprehensive Support
For clients who need deeper support, and ongoing health coaching to help implement the plan in real life.
We’ll review pricing and details for ongoing care after your Initial Consultation, once we know what kind of support makes sense.
