Support for the whole person - and the whole family
People come to functional medicine with different questions. You may be looking for help with ongoing digestive symptoms, navigating an autoimmune diagnosis, or finding supportive care for your child.
Care is tailored to the individual. Recommendations may include nutrition and lifestyle guidance, a review of existing records and lab work, or additional testing when appropriate.
Gut and digestive concerns
We work with adults and children experiencing concerns such as bloating, constipation, diarrhea, reflux, abdominal discomfort, irregular digestion, or food sensitivities.
Autoimmune and immune-related concerns
For people living with an autoimmune diagnosis or ongoing immune-related concerns, care may include reviewing health history, relevant lab work, nutrition, and other factors that may inform an individualized support plan.
Children, autism, and family support
We work with children and their families. For autistic children, functional medicine care may focus on co-occurring concerns such as digestive symptoms, nutrition, food selectivity, or sleep. Support is individualized and designed to complement a child’s medical and developmental care team.
Functional medicine does not cure autism. It can provide supportive care for specific health concerns that a family and their child’s clinicians are addressing.
Other ongoing health concerns
We also work with people seeking support for concerns such as fatigue, skin issues, hormone-related symptoms, brain fog, or metabolic health.
A thoughtful, step-by-step process
1. Start with a consultation
We’ll discuss your health history, current concerns, goals, and what you’ve already tried. For children, a parent or guardian participates in care.
2. Decide on next steps together
Testing is considered based on the person’s history and needs. It isn’t automatically required. Existing lab work may also be reviewed.
3. Review findings and options
If testing is completed, we’ll discuss the results in context and explain possible next steps.
4. Build an individualized plan
Recommendations may include nutrition, lifestyle strategies, targeted supplements, or follow-up support. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions before deciding how to proceed.
Meet Dr. Jen
I’m Dr. Jen Doriott, founder and Functional Medicine doctor of Vital Source Functional Medicine based in Charlotte, NC.
I work with clients who have been told everything looks “normal” - yet they don’t feel normal.
Most chronic health issues aren’t random - they’re patterns. Patterns of microbial imbalance, immune reactivity, nutrient depletion, blood sugar instability, and inflammatory signaling that build over time.
My role is to identify those patterns and create a structured, personalized plan to address them. I combine over 14 years of clinical experience with a systems-based, root-cause approach that goes beyond symptom management.
If you’re looking for quick fixes, this isn’t it.
If you’re ready for investigation and clarity, you’re in the right place.
